Second graders work hard in school everyday! In return for their hard work put forth in class, I am not assigning written homework each night.

The only time your child will have written homework is when they do not complete something in class due to a lack of focus. If you child is pulled at of the room for services, they will be given extra time throughout the week to make up that missed assignment (if needed).

However, I am asking that your child reads for 20 minutes every night.
Starting in October, our class will be participating in the Pizza Hut Book It program! I will send home a nightly reading log at the beginning of the month. When your child reads for 20 minutes, please have them complete the log and sign it saying you witnessed them reading. At the end of the month when your child returns the completed calendar they will be given a coupon for a free person pan pizza from Pizza Hut.

I would also like your child to be practicing their math addition and subtraction facts. We are currently working on facts through 20. A good way to practice these facts if have them create number sentences will food items you are using to cook dinner with. You can also have your child log in and use Moby Max and i-Ready to practice.
