"Every morning upon awakening, I experience a supreme pleasure: that of being Salvador Dalí, and I ask myself, wonderstruck, 'What prodigious thing will he do today, this Salvador Dalí?'" -Salvador Dali
"One day, my mother said to me, 'If you become a soldier, you will be a general; if you become a monk you'll end up as the Pope.' Instead, I became a painter and now I am Picasso." -Pablo Picasso
These Spanish painters strongly believed that they had something valuable to contribute to society. They heartily enjoyed what life has to offer and they strove to give us as much as they possibly could in return.
I decided to teach English as a Second Language over twenty years ago. Having
recently graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in both History and Spanish, I
wanted to use my language skill to make a difference in people's lives. I
studied Teaching English at the University of California, Riverside and then
went on to get my Master's Degree in Foreign Language Education from the
University of Texas at Austin. I have taught adults English at community
schools, community colleges, universities, language schools, businesses and
factories and now I teach elementary school students.
This is my ninth year of teaching ESOL at McAuliffe
Elementary School, and I am teaching students in four grade levels: 2nd, 3rd,
4th and 5th Grade. The challenges are wide ranging, but the rewards are still
the same: the satisfaction of seeing people learn to believe in themselves and
accomplish more because of what they know.
