School Advisory Council
What is a School Advisory Council?
The purpose of a school advisory council is to provide opportunities for members of the school community to participate in the decision-making process at the local school level. A primary function of the council is to serve as an advisory body to the principal and school leadership team. The school advisory council's function is connected to the Prince William Country School Strategic Plan, support Commitment 3- Family and Community Engagement, Objective 3.1- Prince William County Public Schools will engage families as authentic partners in education to support academic progress.

Introductions-Everyone went around the room and introduced themselves and the grade their child was in.
Review of the Strategic Plan Math Goals-Mrs. Herritt reviewed math data from last year the goals for math this year.
Nominations/Election of Positions for Back up SACI Member-We asked for a volunteer to be the back up for SACI but didn’t get one yet.
Citizens Time-No comments made.
Parents had previously asked about a fourth-grade field trip to Jamestown. The school found out there were no guided tours available, and it would be self-tours. We are looking into the cost for various field trips.

Advisory Council Minutes for April 14, 2026
I. Attendance and Welcome – Mrs. Herritt welcomed all. A sign-in sheet was provided. Attendees introduced themselves.
II. Introduced Mr. Matthew Brooks – New Bookkeeper
III. Principal’s Time - Teachers are doing SOL review before and after school. Mrs. Herritt discussed the new preschool programs for CMES. School status message and a paper copy to encourage our school community to sign up for the classes. VPI and Head Start programs were discussed.
IV. Update on CIP – Working on EOY CIP as data becomes available.
V. Update on Superintendent’s Advisory Council on Instruction – Mrs. Thomas goes but she was not present at the meeting to report back.
VI. Budget – The budget was discussed especially funding for preschool. PTA will send information home for the 4 program for most items. Depending on the activity, the 2/3 class will be included. Funding for school personnel was discussed as terminology is changing for special educational services.
VII. Open Chair/Community Time – Nothing was discussed.
